Location: Colorado, Montrose Countryside

A ranch and farm landscape abuts the small Western-Slope Town of Montrose, due to the diversion of water from the Gunnison River, while views of the Uncompaghre Mountains tower over the valley. Although only a quarter-mile from Highwy #550, I felt so peaceful painting here along the irrigation canal, serenaded by red-wing blackbirds nesting in the cat-tails.

This painting received 2nd place at the 1st ever Montrose Plein Air Festival.
